NEW CHAPEL NAMED in honour of Bishop Burgmann

The Chapel of the Resurrection at Booragul has recently been named The Burgmann Centre.

The Chapel was originally the gift of the Burgmann family in honour of Clyde Burgmann, the brother of Bishop Ernest Burgmann, a priest of this diocese and Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn.

Bishop Burgmann was a champion of theological education and human rights, so it is fitting that The Burgmann Centre is now home to the Centre of Ministry Formation for Newcastle Anglicans.
Two Ministry Formation streams are presently running. The Thursday stream meets weekly in term time, and the Saturday stream meets once a month.

Currently, ten students are studying formation for ordained ministry, six of whom were recently ordained as deacons.
